All solutions must be 360 x 360 pixels. Upload the images to your directory on the server. Name each file the number of the problem, substituting underscores for periods and save as the highest quality .jpg format (e.g. the image for problem 5.1 will have the name 5_1.jpg.) Have your work uploaded before the critique begins at 10:00. Be prepared to defend and support all design decisions you have made in arriving at your final solutions.
Create a collage of found colors expressing your sense of color harmony.
Develop a palette of five colors derived from a photograph, painting, or scene from a film. Design a range across hue, saturation, and brightness, but minimize the variables (e.g. it may be advantageous for two colors to have the same hue, but vary in brightness.) Be prepared to discuss each color. Present each color as a vertical band 25.4mm wide and 127mm high. Use a computer to complete this assignment.
Reorder the color palette developed for exercise 5.1 into two unique sequences. Divide your 360 pixel square into two halves, a top half and a bottom half. Repeat one sequence of colors in the top half and the other in the bottom half with each color bar of 2 pixels wide. Stand back from your composition and notice that the bands on each half of the page should combine to create two distinct color bands. Manipulate the colors to achieve a greater difference between the two bands. Use a computer to complete this assignment. You may execute this assignment as responsive software (see note below).
Using exercise 2.0, 2.3, or 2.4 as a foundation, implement a series of relationships between the form and color. Use a computer to complete this assignment. You may execute this assignment as responsive software (see note below).
Use either exercise 4.1 or 4.2 as a foundation, enhance the communication of the composition through integrating color. Use a computer to complete this assignment.
Notes for developing software solutions:
Make a 360x360 pixel responsive composition in the development environment of your choice. Upload your executable file to the server and modify your HTML page associated with the correct problem. If you choose to develop a responsive composition, print a representative image and mount it on a board. Working in Proce55ing is encouraged.
